Nicholas Tobias
Nicholas is a self-taught professional artist from the UK. Initially trained as an urban designer, Nicholas quit his job in 2023 to pursue art full time. He has been teaching watercolour for the past two years and regularly exhibits in the UK. Within his work, Nicholas focuses on the feeling of atmosphere and mood through the depiction of light. More than capturing the details of a scene, Nicholas tries to convey its essence, capturing a moment in time which tells a subtle story.
Some of Nicholas’ achievements include exhibiting at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours annual exhibition in both 2019 and 2024. He has twice received the top 200 award at the International Watercolour Masters annual exhibition (2021 and 2024) and was also selected for exhibition in the TALP Open Art Competition at the Patchings ArtFest (2024) where he was nominated for young artist of the year.
